The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has identified at least five cases of fraudulent sales of SPPG points under the Free Nutrition Programme (MBG), with victims suffering losses of hundreds of millions of rupiah. Deputy Head of BGN Sony Sonjaya said the agency is working with the Indonesian National Police (Polri) to investigate the fraud, as more victims are believed to be unreported. “One case handled by West Java Police has resulted in the arrest of a suspect, while another is under investigation by Bareskrim and may expand into multiple cases,” he said in Jakarta on Tuesday. Sony also noted cases of SPPG point fraud in East Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara. Today, he met with 23 protesters at BGN’s office who claimed to be victims of the scam, hailing from Bandung and Sumedang in West Java. The scam involves perpetrators offering to process SPPG points by claiming connections within BGN, promising to issue fake SPPG IDs in exchange for money. “Typically, they ask, ‘Do you want to register? I have contacts at BGN,’ then issue fake SPPG IDs. The amounts demanded range from Rp50 to 200 million,” he said. Sony said he has gathered evidence of money transfers and is investigating possible involvement of specific individuals or organisations in the scheme. BGN stressed that SPPG point applications are entirely online and free of charge. The official process involves online submission, administrative verification by central committee, followed by field surveys by officers. The public is therefore urged to be wary of anyone offering paid SPPG processing services or promising expedited procedures through specific channels. BGN also encourages fraud victims to report to police if criminal elements are involved. Previously, Police Task Force Chief for MBG, Inspector General Nurworo Danang, stated full support for legal action against those misusing the MBG programme for personal gain through illegal means.
