The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has reminded partners of the nutritious meal service implementation units (SPPG) in Mataram not to take excessive profits in providing menus for the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme. BGN also stressed that SPPG in Mataram should not reduce food quality to cut costs. “Do not let this become a means to take unfair profits,” requested Widiawati, Functional Planner of the Deputy for Promotion and Cooperation at BGN, at the Mataram Health Office (Dinkes), on Wednesday (29/4/2026). “It must remain rational and reasonable. Do not let anyone take personal profits, especially large ones; just report it because it will impact food presentation,” Widia continued. Widia emphasised that SPPG in Mataram should not forget the original purpose of the MBG programme, which is to create a quality generation. Widia claimed that this programme has multiplier effects, including for economic empowerment. On the other hand, Widia also discussed several SPPG in Mataram that were suspended by BGN. Widia asked those SPPG to immediately complete the requirements, one of which is the wastewater treatment installation (IPAL) standard. “There must be a commitment to improvements. Whether there is improvement or not. Because if there is no improvement, they might not be allowed to operate again,” Widia explained. Previously reported, seven SPPG in Mataram have not operated as per the BGN suspension. Those seven MBG kitchens have not met IPAL standards. “Seven are still closed. That is related to IPAL and SLHS. The management will continue to remind them to fix it soon. All SPPG are legally required to improve IPAL so that they meet standards and environmental safety,” said Isnan, Regional Coordinator (Korwil) of SPPG Mataram, when interviewed. BGN previously suspended 15 SPPG in Mataram. Isnan revealed that after more than a dozen SPPG were suspended some time ago, dozens of schools in Mataram no longer received MBG menus. “Hopefully, they can all fix it soon. Those suspended yesterday, some have already made improvements so they are ready to operate. Those not yet lifted are the ones not finished,” Isnan said.
