BGN reaffirms commitment to transparency and MBG programme improvements
National Nutrition Agency (BGN) affirmed its commitment to transparency and improving the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme during an audience with Jaringan Muda Indonesia (JMI) at its Jakarta office on Monday.
Deputy Head Sony Sonjaya received JMI for an open dialogue to discuss inputs, aspirations, and implementation dynamics of the MBG programme across regions. During the meeting, Sonjaya outlined BGN’s establishment and MBG programme development since its official launch on 15 August 2024, with incremental system strengthening to ensure targeted and sustainable delivery.
“The MBG programme is being built incrementally, and we are currently validating data and strengthening systems to ensure benefits are delivered more accurately,” Sonjaya said.
“We welcome all inputs from JMI and remain open to suggestions for improving the MBG programme. If there are areas needing correction, let’s sit together and discuss the best steps forward,” he added.
BGN also clarified several public concerns, including programme management systems and MBG implementation locations. Sonjaya stressed that system development is handled internally and continuously refined based on field requirements.
Sony also explained that BGN is coordinating with local governments, task forces, and other stakeholders to map regions and ensure equitable distribution of MBG beneficiaries.
Representatives from JMI shared feedback and concerns regarding MBG implementation on the ground. JMI stated that their critiques stem from concern for the continuity of this national priority programme.
