Bintan (ANTARA) - The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has reactivated the Seri Kuala Lobam Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG) in Bintan Regency, Riau Islands (Kepri), after it was temporarily closed due to discrepancies in the presentation of Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) menus.

“The reactivation was carried out after a thorough evaluation and verification process in accordance with applicable regulations,” said Rony Kartika, Head of the Bintan Regency MBG Task Force, in Bintan on Friday.

Rony, who is also the Secretary of Bintan Regency, stated that the SPPG Seri Kuala Lobam has resumed operations effective 16 March 2026 based on a decree from BGN.

According to the letter received from BGN, Rony said, the SPPG has been declared to meet several main requirements, including improvements to the food processing procedures in line with MBG standards as well as enhancements to infrastructure and supporting facilities.

Although it has resumed operations, Rony emphasised that supervision and monitoring of the SPPG Seri Kuala Lobam will be carried out strictly to ensure that nutrition fulfilment services run according to the standards set by BGN.

“We need direct community supervision to ensure the MBG Programme runs well, not just in one SPPG, but in all SPPGs in Bintan,” he said.

Rony added that the SPPG Seri Kuala Lobam, which partners with Yayasan Gawe Rencage Pasundan, distributes MBG to 2,870 students in 20 schools from early childhood education-kindergarten participants to elementary, junior high, and senior high school students, including 252 pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and toddlers in the Seri Kuala Lobam Subdistrict area.

“In total, there are 16 SPPGs that have been operational in the Bintan area to date,” Rony said.
