BGN: Ramadan MBG Menu Rumours Are Hoaxes

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SEMARANG — The Deputy Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Nanik Sudaryati Deyang, lamented the numerous ‘attacks’ on the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) menu during Ramadan. However, she claimed that, from the swirling rumours about the MBG menu circulating among the public, the majority are hoaxes.

“Mr Zulkifli Hasan (Coordinating Minister for Food), we report that recently, since the fasting month, we have been overwhelmed, especially regarding the menu. And not all of what circulates is true; most are hoaxes,” Nanik said during a coordination meeting (rakor) on MBG implementation held at Gedung Gradhika Bakti Praja, Central Java Governorate Building Complex, Semarang, on Tuesday (3/3/2026).

The rakor was attended by Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan, BGN Head Dadan Hindayana, Mendikdasmen Abdul Mu’ti, and Minister for Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA) Arifah Fauzi. The Governor of Central Java, Ahmad Luthfi, and regional heads from 35 districts/cities in Central Java also participated in the meeting.

On that occasion, Nanik asked regents/mayors in Central Java to actively monitor MBG implementation in their respective regions, including the processing and presentation of MBG menus.

“So before they (MBG menus) are uploaded (MBG menu), perhaps you could, during Ramadan, check in their kitchens whether it is true or not. This is to reduce and defuse the atmosphere,” she said.
