The head of the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG) has been given an electric trail motorcycle by the National Nutrition Agency (BGN). The selection of a trail motorcycle for the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme has raised significant questions.

According to detikOto, the electric motorcycle is the Emmo JVX GT model. Automotive expert Bebin Djuana has questioned the urgency of providing a trail motorcycle in the MBG programme.

Bebin stated that the electric motorcycle was likely chosen to align with the government’s plans to electrify vehicles in Indonesia. However, the choice of a trail motorcycle costing around Rp 50 million has come under scrutiny.

“If an electric motorcycle is chosen, on one hand, it aligns with the President’s hope that the public switches to electric vehicles to reduce the government’s burden in procuring fuel. But the question is, what is the need for it? It was stated that 20,000 units would be provided—what is the purpose of such a large number?” said Bebin on Thursday (9/4/2026).

Should Use a Box Motorcycle Instead

Bebin opined that the head of SPPG should use a three-wheeled motorcycle with a box at the back. Even if using an electric vehicle, a three-wheeled motorcycle could run on electric power.

“In my opinion, my vision when the location is remote—what is needed, is it really a motorcycle? In the old days, we still remember farmers attaching two baskets to their bicycles to transport crops; perhaps now it’s a motorcycle. Up to that point, I’m still trying to understand. But technology has advanced. And actually, there are already examples: three-wheeled vehicles. But in this case, battery-powered vehicles. This is rational thinking,” said Bebin.

By using an electric-powered three-wheeled motorcycle, it could also be utilised for delivering MBG. In fact, according to Bebin, the box on the three-wheeled motorcycle could be equipped with a food warmer.

“Is it really necessary for the head of the kitchen to ride a luxury motorcycle (trail motorcycle) like that? For MBG, right (the three-wheeled motorcycle) can also be used for delivery. You’ve seen the box model, haven’t you? Because it’s battery-powered, the box can be fitted with a warmer. So the food arrives at our next generation still hot,” suggested Bebin.

“As the head of the kitchen, it’s not like a foreman just showing up, right? That’s my vision. But if it’s teamwork, it could be, ‘Sir, if you’re passing by there, bring this along.’ It becomes multifunctional,” Bebin added.

Meanwhile, quoted from the official Emmo website, the Emmo JVX GT is an adventure electric motorcycle with power up to 7,000 W and a range of 70 km. This motorcycle is designed for all terrains, suitable for both highways and off-road. The 70 km range is claimed to be ideal for daily commutes or outdoor adventures.

This electric motorcycle is equipped with a 72V 31Ah battery, compatible with two batteries and easy to remove. Emmo claims that the JVX GT supports fast charging, with filling from 30 percent to 80 percent taking only 1 hour.

The Emmo JVX GT is sold for Rp 56.8 million. Although, BGN Head Dadan Hindayana stated that they obtained it for Rp 42 million per unit.
