BGN Proposes Free Nutritious Meal Programme for Indonesian Students in Saudi Arabia, to be Reported to Prabowo

Dadan, representing the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), expressed interest in implementing the Free Nutritious Meal programme during a visit to the Indonesian School in Jeddah. He noted that there are approximately 1,081 children of migrant workers enrolled at the school.

“I was requested to visit the Indonesian School in Jeddah, where there are roughly 1,081 children of migrant workers being educated. I believe this is a beneficial programme as it can provide these children with hope for the future,” Dadan stated on Tuesday.

Dadan mentioned that around 100 students and 56 teachers enthusiastically welcomed his visit. During the occasion, students spontaneously expressed their desire to participate in the MBG programme currently being implemented in Indonesia.

However, the proposal will first be reported to President Prabowo Subianto. If approved, the programme could serve as a pilot project for other locations with significant Indonesian migrant worker populations, such as plantations in Malaysia.

“We visited to assess the situation, and I will report to the President whether it is possible to establish a Nutritional Fulfilment Service Unit at the Indonesian School in Jeddah. This could potentially serve as a pilot project for migrant workers in Malaysia and in various plantation sectors,” he added.
