BGN Prepares Digital System for Parents to Monitor Free Nutritious Meal Programme Menu

Jakarta - The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) is preparing a digital ecosystem that integrates information regarding the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) Programme, from beneficiary schools and the food menus served to the service units preparing the meals.

“We are developing a system so that the public can participate in monitoring the implementation of the MBG. Parents will be able to know which schools are receiving the service, what menu is served each day, in which kitchen the food was cooked, and who the Head of the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG) responsible is. This transparency is part of our effort to build better governance,” said BGN Head Sudaryono in Jakarta on Monday.

The system, a digital portal, is expected to be accessible to the public in the near future. The public will simply need to log into the system using a student identity to obtain real-time information regarding the implementation of the MBG Programme. In addition to daily menu information, the portal will also display the location of the SPPG serving the school, the identity of the SPPG Head, and the scope of services provided to students.

Besides the portal for parents, the BGN is also developing a public dashboard that displays broader information on the implementation of the MBG Programme. This dashboard will contain data on the number of operating SPPGs, their distribution across regions, the schools served, and the national progress of the programme. The presence of this dashboard is expected to increase information transparency while making it easier for the public to obtain data regarding the implementation of the MBG Programme.

Sudaryono explained that information transparency is not only aimed at providing easy access to the public but also serves as a joint oversight instrument to ensure the quality of the MBG Programme’s services is maintained. This effort is crucial because the implementation of a nationwide programme requires the participation of various parties to ensure every process runs according to established standards. “We want to transform the system, which was previously largely manual, into a digital system that is easier, more transparent, and comfortable for all parties. This way, the public no longer needs to ask manually because all information can be accessed through the system,” he said.
