Jakarta (ANTARA) — The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) is piloting the central integration of CCTV cameras from around 70 Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG) to strengthen oversight of kitchens operating under the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme.

BGN chief Sudaryono said all SPPG kitchens already have CCTV, but until now the cameras have been used mainly for monitoring within each kitchen.

“We are piloting the connection of CCTV from around 70 kitchens to the central system and adding artificial intelligence (AI), so that we can monitor compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs),” he said after a coordination meeting at the Coordinating Ministry for Food Affairs office in Jakarta on Monday.

He said the integration is intended to monitor compliance with SOPs at every stage, from food preparation and cooking to washing the food trays or containers. Monitoring will also cover staff hygiene when handling ingredients.

According to Sudaryono, CCTV integrated with AI is expected to help the BGN identify breaches of SOPs and enable more comprehensive improvements.

He said oversight would cover not only volunteers and food preparation staff, but also kitchen heads and foundation partners involved in managing the SPPG units.

“With CCTV, we can improve everything, including SOP compliance by volunteers, kitchen heads and foundation partners,” he said.

Sudaryono said the BGN would seek to use equipment already available in each kitchen to limit the need for new procurement as the CCTV system is integrated.

“We are working to connect the CCTV already installed in each kitchen. God willing, there will be no massive procurement,” he said.
