Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesia’s National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has permanently halted operations at two Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPGs) in Central Java as part of its commitment to improving the governance of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme.

BGN Deputy for Monitoring and Supervision Ketut Sumedana said the closure of the two SPPGs affected a total of 4,965 beneficiaries.

“To ensure that services continue, the provision of MBG to these beneficiaries will subsequently be transferred to the nearest SPPGs that meet operational requirements,” he said in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Ketut said the two units included the Semarang Timur Karangturi SPPG in Semarang, Central Java, managed by the Putra Maju Mapan Mandiri Foundation and serving 2,370 beneficiaries. Its operations were halted under BGN Head Decree No. 63530 of 2026.

“The two SPPGs have been permanently closed, affecting a total of 4,965 beneficiaries, whose services will be transferred to the nearest eligible SPPGs,” Ketut said.

He added that the decision to permanently halt operations was based on several considerations. First, both SPPGs had been non-operational for more than 30 days without receiving a recommendation from the relevant parties to resume operations.

Second, conditions were found that posed a risk to the health and safety of more than 500 beneficiaries, and the reporting process had taken more than seven days.

Through the decision, BGN said it would continue to strengthen monitoring and supervision of the MBG programme to ensure that all SPPGs deliver services transparently and in accordance with applicable standards, while prioritising beneficiaries’ health and safety.
