BGN Partners with Kemkomdigi to Combat Hoaxes and Disinformation about Free Nutritious Meals Programme
Jakarta (ANTARA) — The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has strengthened its synergy with the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Kemkomdigi) to counter hoaxes and disinformation related to the Free Nutritious Meals Programme (MBG).
Khairul Hidayati, Head of the Legal and Public Relations Bureau at BGN, stated in an official statement in Jakarta on Saturday that strengthening data- and fact-based narratives is a priority for BGN amid the surge of digital information flow. According to her, strategic national programmes such as MBG must be monitored with transparent and responsive communication.
“The MBG programme concerns the interests of the wider public, so information circulating must be accurate and accountable. We are working synergistically with Kemkomdigi to ensure the digital space remains free from hoaxes and disinformation,” Hidayati said during her visit to Surakarta, Central Java, on Friday (27 February).
Hidayati explained that cooperation with Kemkomdigi focuses not only on issue clarification but also on building early detection systems to counter potential spread of misleading information across various digital platforms. This approach is implemented through strengthened coordination, media monitoring, and enhanced public digital literacy.
Additionally, BGN has emphasised the importance of transparency and official complaint channels as part of an integrated communication strategy. Through available official channels, the public is expected to obtain accurate information whilst also being able to report directly if they discover suspected irregularities in the field.
“The state must be present not only in programme implementation but also in safeguarding information credibility. This synergy is a concrete step to ensure the public is not influenced by misleading narratives,” she explained.
Meanwhile, Molly Prabawaty, Special Adviser to the Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs for Communication and Mass Media, emphasised the importance of data-based public oversight and cross-institutional collaboration to combat hoaxes about the MBG programme.
“Collaboration between BGN and Kemkomdigi is a concrete example of how a data-based approach can prevent the spread of hoaxes whilst strengthening public trust in national programmes such as MBG,” Molly stated.
