BGN Partners with Attorney General's Office to Oversee School Nutrition Programme Budget Usage Across All Regions
Jakarta — The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has partnered with the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) through the network of the Attorney General’s Office Intelligence Unit (Jamintel) to oversee the usage of budgets allocated to the Nutritional Services Units (SPPG) distributed across all 38 provinces throughout Indonesia.
BGN Head Dadan Hindayana, speaking to media following a meeting at Attorney General’s Office headquarters in South Jakarta on Tuesday, stated that oversight mechanisms for the Free Nutritious Meal Programme (MBG) need to be strengthened to prevent corruption, collusion, and nepotism (KKN), issues that have recently been widely discussed on social media, including allegations of price mark-ups on raw materials.
“We are indeed opening ourselves to allow the public to openly monitor the entire process within the SPPG, and now we want to add another oversight component, namely the Attorney General’s Office at the regional level. As is known, there are District Prosecutors’ offices in the regions, but Jamintel has intelligence networks spread throughout Indonesia, including in villages,” he said.
Dadan emphasised that oversight of budget usage across all Indonesian SPPGs is crucial for improving governance and the quality of the MBG Programme, given that BGN budgets are distributed monthly from the State Treasury Service Office (KPPN) through virtual accounts to SPPGs nationwide, which currently number 25,570 units.
“Each SPPG on average in Java and Sumatra receives approximately IDR 1 billion monthly, except for high-cost areas such as Papua and eastern regions, which may receive more than that. Given that such substantial funds flow downward, the BGN already has an oversight component, namely the Deputy for Monitoring and Oversight, and we have also collaborated with the Financial and Development Supervisory Board (BPKP) to audit all expenditures,” Dadan explained.
Through this tightened oversight system, Dadan reminded all partners to use the funds in accordance with the applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and technical guidelines.
“Therefore, please use the funds optimally and as transparently as possible for the MBG Programme,” he said.
