BGN Office Searched by Attorney General's Office, Sahroni: Proof President Prabowo is Not Playing Around

The Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Ahmad Sahroni, has asserted that the Attorney General’s Office’s (Kejagung) decision to search the office of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) serves as tangible evidence of President Prabowo Subianto’s firmness. Sahroni noted that this legal action sends a strong signal that the President will not tolerate anyone attempting to misappropriate funds from this national priority programme.

“The current actions taken by the Attorney General’s Office in searching the BGN office prove that the President is not playing around with those who intend to play around,” Sahroni stated at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday.

According to Sahroni, the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme, designed by President Prabowo, fundamentally carries a very noble mission for public welfare. However, due to the massive budget allocation for this programme, it is considered vulnerable to corruption if not strictly supervised.

“The distribution of the MBG programme, as desired by the President, is very good. However, there are parties suspected of committing criminal acts, namely corruption. Why? Because the budget is quite large, and people could be blinded by greed,” he added.

Furthermore, Sahroni urged the investigative team of the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) not to delay the exposure of alleged corruption within the BGN. He pressed the Attorney General’s Office to immediately announce the names of those designated as suspects to provide clear legal certainty to the public.

“Therefore, I request the Attorney General’s Office, if there is a press conference this afternoon, to immediately designate those committing corruption to clarify the issues they are facing,” said Sahroni.
