BGN Nears 30,000 MBG Kitchen Target with 29,400 Verified
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) confirmed that 29,400 Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) kitchens have been verified nationwide, with 27,900 operational to serve beneficiaries.
Deputy BGN Head Sony Sonjaya stated the verified kitchens are close to the national target of 30,000 locations. “Currently, 29,400 kitchens are verified nationwide and 27,900 are operational,” he said during a press conference at the West Nusa Tenggara Provincial Police Headquarters in Mataram on Friday, 29 May 2026, according to Antara.
However, BGN is still awaiting real data validation for certain regions, particularly remote areas. “The remainder is pending real data validation, especially in remote areas,” Sony added.
The programme requires 82.9 million beneficiaries, Sony explained, including students, pregnant women, nursing mothers, toddlers, and educators. MBG is a government priority programme to improve community nutrition, especially for vulnerable groups and students.
Sony noted that government budget efficiency measures have affected BGN operations, but adjustments were made by reducing certain activities without compromising MBG service quality. “BGN welcomes the government’s policy without reducing quality. The large portion remains at Rp15,000 and the small portion at Rp13,000,” he said.
The Rp15,000 large portion is provided to Grade IV elementary students, pregnant women, nursing mothers, and educators. Meanwhile, the Rp13,000 small portion is for toddlers up to Grade III elementary students.
