TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia’s Attorney General’s Office has estimated state losses from alleged corruption in the procurement of electric motorcycles for the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) at Rp863.84 billion (approximately US$52 million).
Anang Supriatna, head of the Attorney General’s Office Legal Information Center, said the estimate was based on a state financial loss audit report dated October 5, 2026.
“The case resulted in state financial losses amounting to Rp863,846,166,953,” Anang said in a written statement on Friday, October 9.
Five Suspects Named in Procurement Case
The Attorney General’s Office has named five suspects in the case: Budi Utomo, a colonel and former secretary of BGN’s deputy for supply, who also served as the commitment-making official; AM, commissioner of PT ASE and PT YAT; GB, director of PT ASE and PT AKI; YY, director of PT YAT; and AA, director of PT ASE.
According to Anang, the suspects allegedly colluded to manipulate the procurement process to ensure that PT YAT won the project. The alleged scheme involved arrangements concerning the winning bidder, technical specifications and the owner’s estimate, known in Indonesia as the Harga Perkiraan Sendiri (HPS).
Case Proceeds to Prosecution
The suspects face primary charges under Article 603 of Indonesia’s Criminal Code, in conjunction with Article 18 of Law No. 31 of 1999 on the Eradication of Corruption Crimes and Article 20(c) of the Criminal Code. Subsidiary charges have been brought under Article 604 of the Criminal Code, in conjunction with Article 18 of the anti-corruption law and Article 20(c) of the Criminal Code.
The case has entered the second stage of the investigation and prosecution process, with the Attorney General’s Office transferring all five suspects and the evidence to the Central Jakarta District Prosecutor’s Office on Friday, October 9.
The suspects have been detained for 20 days. Prosecutors at the Central Jakarta District Prosecutor’s Office will prepare the indictments before submitting the case to the Corruption Court at the Central Jakarta District Court.
