BGN Mandates SPPG to Increase Beneficiaries for Pregnant Women, Breastfeeding Mothers, and Toddlers within Two Weeks
JAKARTA - The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has requested all Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG) to increase the number of beneficiaries in the category of pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and toddlers (3B) in their respective working areas within the next two weeks.
Deputy Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) for Public Communication and Investigation, Nanik Sudaryati Deyang, revealed that data on pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and toddlers from the Ministry of Health reaches 26 million.
“Now, up to two weeks from now, all SPPG must have 3B beneficiaries. Currently, our achievement is only around 9 million, while data from the Ministry of Health reaches 22 million to 26 million,” said Nanik in an official statement on Tuesday (12/5/2026).
Therefore, all SPPG are urged to actively conduct data collection and optimise services so that the coverage of 3B beneficiaries can increase in a short time.
If they do not carry out the addition, BGN will temporarily halt the operations of the SPPG for failing to meet the target.
“SPPG that are unable to meet the 3B beneficiary target in their area will be subject to temporary operational suspension or suspension,” emphasised Nanik.
Nanik stated that BGN wants to ensure all programme implementers remain focused on the main objective, which is to improve community nutrition and reduce the prevalence of stunting in Indonesia.
“This is part of the government’s efforts to accelerate improvements in Indonesian children’s nutrition while lowering the national stunting rate through the Free Nutritious Meals Programme (MBG),” she concluded.
Information gathered by Kompas.com indicates that MBG for toddlers and pregnant women is distributed by the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG) of the Daya Bakti Persada Foundation.
In the past week, 541 toddlers and pregnant women only received MBG on Thursday (2/4/2026) and Saturday (4/4/2026).
Head of SPPG for the Daya Bakti Persada Foundation in Kangenan, Tholib Ifan Jailani, acknowledged that in the past week, the MBG menu for toddlers and pregnant women was distributed only twice.
“Yes, we have obstacles. Because we are still waiting for readiness from cadres and midwives. Whether they want to accept it or not,” he said.
According to him, in Pamekasan Regency, many Posyandu cadres do not want to accept the MBG menu for toddlers and pregnant women, so distribution is not carried out.
“Because the direction is still unclear. We don’t want to take risks, entirely,” he explained.
