BGN Makes SPPG Social Media Mandatory for MBG Program Transparency
National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has mandated that all Satuan Pelayanan Pemenuhan Gizi (SPPG) units operate official social media accounts on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. The move is intended to allow the public to monitor the Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG) directly and transparently.
‘Every day who evaluates? The public directly, because we have instructed all SPPG heads to create the social media accounts we have designated,’ said BGN Deputy Head Sony Sanjaya in a podcast in Jakarta on Friday (6 March).
Sony revealed that there are currently around 45,000 social media accounts owned by SPPGs across Indonesia. These accounts serve as a platform for public evaluation, covering aspects from menu, nutritional quality, to the pricing details used.
Each SPPG must publish its daily menu. In addition, every packaged meal must include nutritional information and price as a form of public accountability.
‘If we require uploading to social media, there is at least a shaming effect (if the quality is low). We also carry out evaluations by district to prevent minimalist menus, such as watermelons cut thinly for a ’fan’ shape,’ he asserted.
Besides transparency of service, BGN also takes the integrity of partners seriously. Sony warned of a modus operandi by individuals pretending to be duped in the MBG kitchen construction process to obtain rapid verification from the BGN system.
He emphasised the importance of filing an official police report if fraud actually occurs. According to him, losses from such fraud can reach Rp100 million per person.
‘If they refuse to answer who the perpetrator is, that is clearly a modus. However, for those truly duped, the police report has been received and the identity of the offender will be revealed soon,’ added Sony.
Currently, BGN has officially closed new SPPG registrations as service quotas have been filled. By March 2026, over 24,000 SPPG had been established and are ready to meet the nation’s nutritional needs across Indonesia.
The case is a serious concern as it contradicts the integrity values and moral responsibility that must be upheld by any government program implementer.
KPK has mapped potential corruption in the MBG program after suspicions of markup in kitchen raw materials for SPPG.
To date, the MBG mega project has been in operation for 1 year and 2 months. The beneficiary target is 82.9 million, consisting of pregnant women, lactating women and under-five children.
This action was taken by the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) as an evaluative step following the discovery of notable cases.
It is very important for SPPG to manage waste and enforce standard operating procedures.
