BGN Leadership Meets KPK to Discuss Follow-up on Free Nutritious Meal Governance Review

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The leadership of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) met with representatives of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to discuss follow-up actions from the anti-graft body’s review of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme’s governance. “In essence, BGN today is discussing the action plan that BGN colleagues will undertake to follow up on the review conducted by the KPK,” said BGN Deputy Head Agustina Arumsari at the KPK’s Red and White Building in Jakarta on Tuesday. Agustina explained that the KPK initially provided the review results on 17 March 2026, when the position of BGN Head was still held by Dadan Hindayana. “On 2 June 2026, when we (the new BGN leadership replacing Dadan and his deputies) came in, we saw that the review results had not yet received a response,” she said. She noted that the review results were only studied by the BGN during the tenure of Nanik Sudaryati Deyang as Head of the BGN. “We studied all of them. There were 10 findings and we examined them one by one,” said the former Deputy Head of the Development Finance Comptroller (BPKP). Following this, she said the BGN formed a team to prepare a follow-up to the KPK’s review regarding the MBG governance. “As it should be, when there are findings from the BPK or BPKP, every government agency that receives recommendations should formulate an action plan to follow up on those recommendations,” she said. “Of course, we believe the KPK will not be satisfied merely with the documents we submit, but they will want to see more concretely what we will do later. Not just what is written, but what we will actually carry out,” she stated confidently. On the same occasion, KPK Deputy for Prevention and Monitoring Aminudin said his institution would oversee the implementation of the BGN’s action plan. Previously, the results of the KPK’s governance review of the MBG programme were included in the appendix of the 2025 Annual Report of the KPK’s Monitoring Directorate. In the review, the KPK revealed several potential corruption risks in the implementation of the MBG, including conflicts of interest in determining partners for the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG) or kitchens, weak transparency in partner verification and validation, suboptimal food safety supervision due to minimal involvement of the Health Service and the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM), and the absence of measurable short-term and long-term success indicators.
