BGN Launches Modular SPPG Units in 3T Region of North Lombok
North Lombok, NTB (ANTARA) - Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Dadan Hindayana launched the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG) in Indonesia’s underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost (3T) regions, centred in Genggelang Village, North Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara, on Tuesday afternoon.
BGN Head Dadan Hindayana stated that nationally, the government targets building 9,000 SPPG units in 3T areas across Indonesia, from Sabang to Merauke.
“Out of the 9,000 SPPG units, 1,400 have already been completed, with 7,000 more to be built,” he told reporters after inaugurating the modular SPPG initiated by PT Krakatau Steel in Genggelang Village, Gangga Subdistrict, North Lombok Regency.
He said the construction of SPPG units in 3T areas is expected to strengthen the state’s presence in regions with low population density. Each SPPG unit in 3T areas will serve fewer than 1,000 beneficiaries.
“The operational targets for regular kitchens are similar to special kitchens. The main difference is the number of beneficiaries per point. For example, regular units are allocated to serve 2,000-3,000 beneficiaries,” he said.
“Whereas in remote areas, one point can serve under 1,000 beneficiaries. Their establishment is not based on national quotas but on regional needs,” Dadan Hindayana added.
“Local governments also determine the implementers of the construction. Meanwhile, BGN will issue decrees for synchronisation and synergy among stakeholders,” he said, witnessed by North Lombok Regent Najmul Akhyar and NTB MBG Task Force Chair Fathul Gani.
According to him, in line with the MBG programme targets, it will serve around 79-80 million beneficiaries across Indonesia, with 3 million of them in 3T areas. For urban areas, the number of built SPPG units reaches 28,390, serving 62.1 million people.
“Alhamdulillah, although this programme has only been running for 1 year and 4 months, it has already served 62.1 million beneficiaries across Indonesia. This is the fastest programme in the world. Brazil took 11 years for 40 million. This is thanks to the contributions and participation of all Indonesian society in fulfilling the nutrition of children from pregnancy to age 18,” he said.
“For those built by Krakatau Steel in NTB, there are a total of 13 units, 7 for North Lombok Regency, 6 of which are ready, and the rest in Sumbawa. The operational capacity is approximately 830 people per SPPG unit, specifically in 3T areas,” said this NTB HKTI Chair.
He said the SPPG modular units built by Krakatau Steel measure 18 x 10, so they do not require large land areas.
“All units are built modularly, so the kitchen scale can be adjusted according to the unit,” he said.
In NTB itself, the total number of planned modular SPPG units for 3T areas reaches 136 units. Sumbawa Regency has the highest number at 51 units, followed by North Lombok with 21 units, Bima Regency with 20 units, East Lombok with 17 units, West Lombok and West Sumbawa Regencies each with 10 units, Dompu with four units, Central Lombok with two units, and Bima City with one unit.
