BGN Launches MBG Menu Review App to Enhance Food Quality Oversight

Deputy Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Sony Sanjaya announced a new initiative to strengthen quality oversight of the Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG) through the development of the MBG Menu Review (Organoleptic) application.

The system was developed to enhance the attention, concern, and vigilance of all SPPG heads and BGN partners in maintaining the quality of meals received by beneficiaries.

The application allows direct quality monitoring by beneficiaries on the ground. Users are the PICs of MBG beneficiary groups, namely school-designated teachers and posyandu heads (Kaposyandu).

Upon receiving MBG meal packages, they can immediately assess food quality using parameters set in the system.

The application’s evaluation indicators include delivery timeliness, aroma, taste, and menu variety. This system enables swift and measurable MBG quality assessments.

According to data from the MBG Menu Review Dashboard as of Saturday, 23 May 2026 at 21:31 WIB, 1,707 reports have been submitted from various regions. Of these, 1,705 reports (99.88%) stated the food was fit for consumption, with only two reports indicating unfit food.

Additional data shows a 97.95% on-time delivery rate, with 1,672 reports confirming meals were received on time or earlier. Only 35 reports noted delivery delays.

In sensory quality aspects, aroma was deemed acceptable in 1,702 reports (99.71%), while 1,697 reports (99.41%) rated food appearance as meeting standards. Regarding taste, 1,688 reports (98.89%) indicated normal and acceptable taste for beneficiaries.

Sony Sanjaya explained the application is part of a systemic approach to prevent prominent issues in MBG implementation. He stated oversight is not only conducted internally through increased awareness among program implementers but also strengthened via external control by directly involving beneficiaries.
