BGN instructs SPPGs to upload MBG menus daily on social media
Bandung, Sunday — The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has instructed all partners of the Satuan Pelayanan Pemenuhan Gizi (SPPG) to upload the MBG programme menu via social media as part of public transparency. Sonny Sonjaya, Deputy Head of BGN for Operational Nutrition Fulfillment, said the uploaded information should not only comprise the meals but also include the nutritional content and the cost of providing meals in the MBG programme. ‘BGN has instructed all SPPGs to use social media as a means of communication between SPPGs and the public, and to upload the meal menus, nutrition content and prices,’ he said in Bandung on Sunday. According to him, the move aims to enable the public to know openly the quality and composition of the meals provided to beneficiaries. MBG beneficiaries include pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, infants, and learners at various levels of education. ‘If it does not comply, the public can protest. That is one form of transparency and public accountability,’ he said. He added the public can also share the information on social media as long as it is aimed at improving services and is accompanied by a report to the relevant SPPG. ‘If the objective is to go viral on social media, that has a particular purpose. If the aim is to improve, please visit the SPPG to request improvements. But if the aim is to virally spread it, that depends on each person’s intention. We cannot prohibit it,’ he said.
