BGN Head Urges Nutrition Service Officers to Work with Conscience

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Sudaryono, head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), has asked all officers of the Nutrition Service Fulfilment Units (SPPG) to carry out the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) Programme with full responsibility, care, and conscience in serving its beneficiaries.

Sudaryono, familiarly known as Mas Dar, emphasised that the MBG Programme is a great mandate to fulfil the nutritional rights of the public, particularly children, pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and other beneficiary groups. As such, every SPPG officer plays a vital role in ensuring that the food served not only meets operational standards, but is also genuinely safe, fit for consumption, and of good quality.

“So my message earlier to all the SPPG heads, nutrition supervisors, accountants and all officers in the kitchens was this: we work with our hearts. Working is not just about earning money, not just about feeding people — no! It must be done properly,” Sudaryono said during a surprise inspection in Bogor, West Java, on Friday.

According to him, the success of the MBG Programme is determined not only by compliance with operational standards, but also by the commitment of all officers to ensuring that every meal served is truly fit, safe, and nutritious.

He explained that all standard operating procedures (SOP), implementing guidelines (juklak), and technical instructions (juknis) remain the principal reference in running the MBG Programme. However, every officer must also use common sense and care in assessing the quality of the food to be served.

“So, the SOPs, juklak and juknis must still be carried out, but beyond that, we look with common sense, with our hearts, with good judgement,” he said.

Sudaryono also reminded SPPG heads to promptly communicate any remaining shortcomings to their partners or foundations, so that service quality can be continuously improved.

In addition, he stressed that every success in running the SPPG is the result of the hard work of all officers, which deserves appreciation. Conversely, where shortcomings are found in implementation, the BGN will immediately provide guidance and conduct evaluations of the SPPG as part of ongoing improvement efforts.
