Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Sudaryono, has stated that heads of Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG) who cause fatal incidents endangering beneficiaries of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme will be dismissed.

Sudaryono, affectionately known as Mas Dar, emphasised that sanctions for those proven negligent will not be limited to removal from their positions. SPPG heads holding civil servant (ASN) status will be dishonourably discharged through the National Civil Service Agency (BKN).

“The first sanction is that the kitchen will be heavily suspended. Then, for the SPPG head, the sanction I can impose is not merely removal, but I will submit a request for dishonourable discharge through the BKN regarding their ASN status, because this concerns lives,” said Mas Dar in a statement confirmed in Jakarta on Friday.

According to him, MBG food safety is not merely a matter of kitchen operations, but concerns human safety and lives. Therefore, all kitchen heads, staff, and responsible parties are required to ensure that all standard operating procedures (SOP) are followed.

Mas Dar also urged staff who feel unable to carry out their duties to resign rather than endanger MBG beneficiaries.

“This is also a warning to others: you must be extra careful and work as well as possible. If you cannot do it, resign. If you feel incapable, resign. Do not make people’s lives a game. If you are not capable of being a kitchen head or cook, or of serving as staff there, just resign, because someone’s life cannot be gambled with,” he said.
