The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) states that it has successfully established more than 27,000 Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG) in Indonesia over the past one year and four months as an effort to ensure the success of the Free Nutritious Meals Programme (MBG).

“Only in the span of one year and four months, we have managed to establish 27,000 SPPG spread from Sabang to Merauke,” said BGN Head Dadan Hindayana in Padang City, West Sumatra, on Wednesday.

This means, Dadan added, that BGN now has 27,000 SPPG heads, 27,000 nutritionists, 27,000 accountants, and 1.1 million volunteers ready to support one of President Prabowo Subianto’s AstaCita priorities.

Specifically in West Sumatra, he continued, BGN records 404 SPPG, 70 of which are in Padang City. With that number, at least Rp400 billion in funds is circulating in the Minang Land to meet MBG needs.

“And from those funds entering the virtual account at each SPPG, 70% is used to purchase raw materials,” said Dadan.

He explained that the MBG programme championed by President Prabowo not only aims to produce and develop superior and healthy human resources (HR). It also has a direct impact on various sectors, from agriculture to micro, small, and medium enterprises (UMKM).

Dadan noted that 95% of MBG ingredients come from agriculture. Thus, this policy directly affects farmers, livestock breeders, fishermen, and other sectors. Then, 20% of the MBG budget is used for operations, including volunteer salaries ranging from Rp2.4 million to Rp3.5 million.

Based on reports from several regions, Dadan said the MBG Programme has also succeeded in lowering poverty and unemployment rates and has a positive impact on the Gini ratio.

“I have received reports that the community is enthusiastic about farming, planting, raising livestock, and so on. Hopefully, this is also the case in Padang and West Sumatra,” said BGN Head Dadan Hindayana.
