BGN Has Rp 1.6 Trillion in Debt, Here's Why
The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has revealed it has outstanding payments of Rp 1.6 trillion to third parties. However, BGN Head Sudaryono declined to call it debt, instead referring to it as arrears.
Sudaryono explained that the settlement process for the arrears is still in the audit stage. He stated that he would not take unilateral action without recommendations and verification from the auditing body.
‘Regarding the debt, these are arrears, not debt. This is the auditor’s domain, it is being audited. Once it is clean and clear, I think it will be paid,’ Sudaryono said during a press conference at the BGN office in Central Jakarta on Wednesday (29/7/2026).
Sudaryono explained that the payment of these arrears must follow the proper mechanism. He assured that the debt to third parties is not a problem for BGN.
‘I will not just say, “Oh, this one I have to pay myself.” That cannot happen, I don’t want that. Everything is trust in the system, not trust in a person,’ Sudaryono clarified.
‘We want what is legal, good, and correct, according to the applicable mechanism, that is what we will settle. I think there is no issue, no problem,’ Sudaryono added.
BGN Deputy Head Agustina Arumsari detailed the composition of the Rp 1.6 trillion in arrears, which is spread across various activity items. The breakdown is as follows:
First, material expenditure for purchasing uniforms, KLB, call centre, spoons, and others amounting to Rp 16.1 billion.
Second, SPPG certification of Rp 111 billion.
Third, consultant services of Rp 200 million.
Fourth, incidental vehicle rental of Rp 121 million.
Fifth, honorarium for resource persons (Food Handler Technical Guidance activities) of Rp 812 million.
Sixth, other services for event organisers, publications, and so on of Rp 330 billion.
Seventh, debt to Unhan for UH/UT, and goods delivery of Rp 7.3 billion.
Eighth, official travel of Rp 684 million.
Ninth, government assistance arrears for MBG of Rp 100 billion.
Tenth, capital expenditure for the construction of state-budget-funded kitchens of Rp 1.04 trillion.
‘The total is 1.609 trillion, but God willing, we will pay it off, we will settle it this year, 2026. The arrears that we will pay in 2026 are currently subject to a budget block. However, several items that have passed the review process and are in accordance with regulations will be paid immediately by the Directorate General of Budget,’ Arumsari explained.
