BGN Halts Operations of 567 Nutrition Service Units in Sumatra Region, 117 Still Non-Operational
The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has temporarily halted operations at 567 Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG) in Region I, encompassing Sumatra, due to failure to meet the prescribed standards.
Of that number, 450 SPPG have now resumed operations following improvements in line with standard operating procedures (SOP).
This step also reaffirms BGN’s commitment to a zero-tolerance principle regarding deviations in the delivery of public services under the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme.
A total of 117 SPPG remain non-operational and are undergoing further evaluation processes.
“The suspension of operations is based on strict evaluation indicators to ensure that all SPPG meet quality standards, food safety, and principles of accountable governance,” said Harjito, in his statement in Jakarta on Thursday (19/3/2026), as reported by Antara.
BGN stated that technical details regarding field findings, including various challenges faced by each SPPG, cannot yet be fully publicised.
This is because the deepening and verification of data processes are still ongoing to maintain the accuracy and objectivity of the information.
In the improvement process, BGN not only imposes administrative sanctions but also prioritises a sustainable and structured mentoring approach.
“Every SPPG whose operations are suspended must undergo intensive mentoring and technical assistance processes to promptly meet standards and resume optimal operations,” Harjito said.
This step is expected to mitigate the risk of repeated violations while accelerating the recovery of SPPG operations and strengthening supervision as part of the institution’s commitment to safeguarding the credibility of the MBG programme.
“We ensure that every service delivery adheres to the established standards. There is no tolerance for practices that could undermine service quality or public trust,” Harjito added.
