BGN: Free Nutritious Meals Programme Suspended During Eid Holiday, State Saves IDR 5 Trillion

The head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Dadan Hindayana, announced that the Free Nutritious Meals programme (MBG) will be suspended during the 2026 Eid holiday period.

Dadan explained that the distribution of MBG to schools was completed on Friday, 13 March. Meanwhile, the programme for toddlers, pregnant women and nursing mothers was last distributed on Tuesday, 17 March.

“For Eid, I should clarify that for schoolchildren, the final distribution was on Friday, 13 March,” he told journalists at the Attorney General’s Office.

He explained that the MBG programme will resume on Tuesday, 31 March.

Dadan claimed that through this suspension, the agency would achieve budget savings of approximately IDR 5 trillion.

“The nutritious meals programme will resume operations on 31 March,” he stated, adding that the savings from the suspension would amount to roughly IDR 5 trillion.
