Jakarta (ANTARA) — The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has clarified that the Free Nutritious Meals Programme (MBG) is designed to meet only one-third of daily nutritional requirements and not to provide full daily nutrition.

Deputy Head of BGN for Public Communications and Investigation, Nanik Sudaryati Deyang, made this statement to respond to a narrative circulating on social media claiming that MBG menus fall far short of required nutritional standards.

“It must be understood that MBG is not designed to fulfil the entire daily nutritional requirement. The programme is designed to meet approximately one-third of the daily nutritional requirement of beneficiaries,” she said in Jakarta on Monday.

BGN also stressed that the MBG Programme is implemented with clear and structured technical guidance. This simultaneously addressed questions raised on social media regarding whether technical procedures exist in programme implementation.

The technical guidelines, she added, encompass various operational aspects ranging from the standards of Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG), food preparation, food safety, to nutritional composition in each menu served.

Through this transparency, BGN hopes that public discussion regarding the MBG Programme can be conducted constructively based on data and official documents.
