The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has formed an internal Classification Team for Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG). This team was established after President Prabowo Subianto issued firm instructions for BGN to ensure the quality of all implementations of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme.

“A special message from the President on Eid al-Fitr for BGN to improve the quality of SPPG services. Inadequate SPPG units should be temporarily closed and quality improvements carried out immediately,” said Dadan on Monday (23/3/2026), as reported by detikNews.

Dadan explained that the special unit is tasked with monitoring the implementation of certifications across all SPPG. The initial supervision focuses on three main certifications: the Hygiene and Sanitation Compliance Certificate (SLHS), the Halal Certificate, and the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) certification.

These three certifications, Dadan stated, form the primary foundation in guaranteeing the safety, cleanliness, and quality of food served to the public. “Once these three certifications are fulfilled, it will advance to certifications related to the quality of SPPG human resources, including chefs, food handlers, and environmental analysis,” Dadan continued.

Dadan noted that the completeness of certifications will serve as the benchmark for determining the classification or grading of SPPG. This system is expected to create measurable quality standards while encouraging sustainable improvements in service quality.

BGN, Dadan explained, has formed the internal SPPG Classification Team while awaiting the establishment of a national SPPG Accreditation institution by the government. The team is responsible for conducting initial assessments and preparing a more structured and integrated accreditation system for the future.

This step is seen as part of BGN’s strategic efforts to ensure that the nutrition fulfilment programme runs optimally, safely, and in accordance with national and international standards.
