BGN Exposes SPPG Service Point Fraud in NTB, Rp 950 Million Loss
The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has uncovered a case of alleged fraud involving the sale of Satuan Pelayanan Pemenuhan Gizi (SPPG) service points in East Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara, with losses amounting to Rp 950 million.
Deputy Head of BGN Sony Sonjaya stated that the case handled by East Lombok Police Department followed public complaints about misuse of the verification process for the Free Nutrition Meal (MBG) programme.
‘East Lombok Police Department is handling the case after following up on information from victims reported in the media. They were targeted by individuals exploiting the MBG verification process,’ Sony said at a press conference at the West Nusa Tenggara Provincial Police headquarters in Mataram on Friday.
Sony explained the modus operandi mirrored incidents in other regions, where perpetrators claimed connections with BGN officials and used photos as proof of proximity.
Meanwhile, East Lombok Police Chief AKBP I Komang Sarjana confirmed the force had received public reports since 16 February 2026 and escalated the case to investigation stage on 21 May 2026.
‘We will issue an investigation order on 29 May 2026,’ Komang said.
He stated the suspect, identified as S, faces charges under Article 492 and/or Article 486 of Law No. 1 of 2023 on the Indonesian Criminal Code.
Komang explained the suspect allegedly promised MBG kitchen locations and facility construction, claiming they would soon be operational. However, the facilities remain unused despite the structures being built.
Investigators have not specified the number of victims or exact locations of the incident. The losses are estimated at Rp 950 million.
