BGN Ensures Free Nutritious Meal Distribution Resumes Optimally

The Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme has resumed distribution to beneficiaries as school activities recommence following the holiday break. The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) utilised the break period to reorganise and improve the quality of the programme’s implementation on the ground.

Deputy Head of BGN, Arumsari, explained that the agency conducted direct visits to a number of schools and Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG) to monitor the programme’s execution. This step aims to ensure meals are received on time and to observe service quality firsthand.

“We want to ensure that MBG distribution is running well again after the adjustment period. The various improvements that have been made are expected to enhance service quality so that the programme’s benefits can be felt optimally by all recipients,” Arumsari said in a statement on Tuesday (14/7).

The review was carried out comprehensively at various schools and SPPGs spread across the Jakarta area. Some of the locations visited included TK Trisula Perwari, SDN Paseban 09, SMP Trisula Perwari 2, SMP 88 Jakarta, SD 03 Lubang Buaya, SD 11 Jakarta, SMP 227 Jakarta, SMP Gita Kirtti 2, and SDN Cideng 2.

In addition to schools, monitoring also targeted a number of SPPGs, including SPPG Gambir Duri Pulo, SPPG Cinere Gandul, SPPG Jakarta Pusat Kemayoran Sumur Batu, SPPG Jakarta Barat Kembangan Meruya Selatan 1, SPPG Mojopahit Petojo Selatan Gambir, SPPG Jakbar Palmerah II, SPPG Cipayung Setu 3, SPPG Pejaten Barat 5, SPPG Tanjung Priuk Sunter Jaya 1, SPPG Kayu Putih 2, and SPPG Bukit Duri Jakarta Selatan.

Beyond monitoring distribution, BGN absorbed direct input from field implementers, from SPPG managers to school officials. Arumsari stressed that this feedback is crucial for the continuous improvement of the programme.

“Through these visits, we noted a number of things that need continuous refinement, from operational aspects and distribution punctuality to inter-party coordination and service quality on the ground. All monitoring results will serve as evaluation material so that the MBG Programme’s implementation becomes more effective and orderly,” she added.

During the adjustment period, BGN strengthened governance and refined operational aspects. This effort represents the institution’s commitment to ensuring every beneficiary receives safe, high-quality nutritious meals that meet established standards.
