BGN: Elite Private Schools No Longer Receive MBG

The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has excluded elite private schools deemed no longer in need of assistance from the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme.

Sudaryono said the move is part of efforts to screen MBG beneficiaries to ensure accurate targeting. According to him, whether a school receives the MBG programme is directly linked to the effectiveness of state budget allocation.

“We have now screened them. Several private schools, elite private schools, which I think do not need MBG, around 80 schools across Indonesia, particularly private schools, have been excluded from receiving MBG,” Sudaryono said at the Ministry of Finance headquarters in Jakarta on Friday (28/8/2026).

The exclusion also applies to boarding schools that already have their own nutrition fulfilment programmes, so they are no longer included in the MBG scheme.

“Including schools such as boarding schools, there are many of them, like my former school SMA Taruna Nusantara, which does not receive MBG because it is already part of their own activities,” he said.

He added that the list of schools excluded from the MBG programme can be viewed directly on the Radar MBG website.

“It is already running. You can check on Radar MBG. Just enter a school, for example JIS or Cikal, or Taruna Nusantara, or Kemala Bhayangkari, or Taruna Bhayangkara. In Radar MBG there will be a note stating that the school does not receive an MBG allocation,” Sudaryono said.
