BGN: Electric Motorcycles for SPPG to Reach Remote Areas
Deputy Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Sony Sonjaya stated that the electric motorcycles provided to the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG) will be used to reach remote areas inaccessible by car. “Therefore, motorcycles are needed to optimise field implementation,” Sony said at the Ministry of People’s Empowerment and Community Development in Central Jakarta on 16 April 2026. Sony added that the motorcycles can be utilised in remote areas for the free nutritious meal (MBG) programme. They can even be used for schools in Jakarta that are located in narrow alleys inaccessible to cars, allowing for quick coordination using motorcycles. Sony stated that the motorcycle budget is a procurement for the 2025 fiscal year and has followed the appropriate mechanisms. If there are any deviations, he invites law enforcement authorities to take action. “So if there are deviations, that is already in the realm of law. However, we are confident that the procurement has gone through the proper goods and services procurement process,” Sony said. The BGN’s electric motorcycle procurement went viral after a video showed a warehouse full of motorcycles bearing the BGN logo. Head of the National Nutrition Agency Dadan Hindayana said that the 21,801 units of electric motorcycles purchased are still in the warehouse. “They are now in the distributor’s warehouse,” Dadan said when confirmed on Thursday night, 9 April 2026. However, Dadan did not specify which distributor’s warehouse location he meant. An internal BGN source said that thousands of electric motorcycles were once stored in a warehouse in the Tangerang area and were then moved to the headquarters of the Cakung district military command in East Jakarta, before finally being placed in a warehouse in the Sentul area, Bogor, West Java. Dadan said the electric motorcycle procurement was only budgeted for 2025. BGN did not budget for the same item in 2026. This IPB University lecturer conveyed that the electric motorcycles will be used for SPPG in areas with difficult access. “We will distribute them later for the operations of all personnel in SPPG, especially in difficult areas,” Dadan stated.
