BGN Deputy Ketut Visits Attorney General's Office, Discusses Improvements to Free Nutritious Meals Programme

Deputy for Monitoring and Supervision at the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Ketut Sumedana, visited the Round Building of the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes at the Attorney General’s Office. Ketut spoke about improvements to the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme. Ketut initially explained that his placement at the BGN was a direct mandate from President Prabowo Subianto through a Presidential Decree. He also confirmed that this was done with the knowledge of the Attorney General, ST Burhanuddin. As is known, Ketut has a history of serving as a prosecutor at the Attorney General’s Office. He has held a number of strategic positions there, including Head of the Legal Information Centre. Ketut was later promoted to Head of the Bali High Prosecutor’s Office. His last position before joining the BGN was Head of the South Sumatra High Prosecutor’s Office. “It is a Presidential Decree, from the president,” said Ketut at the Round Building of the Attorney General’s Office, South Jakarta, Wednesday. Ketut stressed that his team would oversee all processes within the BGN. This, according to him, is done to ensure the MBG programme runs according to its targets. “Yes, everything. Supervising the implementation of its duties so that it is right on target,” explained the former Head of the Legal Information Centre. Ketut asserted that his visit was not related to any ongoing cases at the Attorney General’s Office. However, he mentioned that data and findings from investigators could be used as evaluation material for the BGN. “There is no connection (to any case). Later, the materials from the investigators can be used for improvements,” he said. According to Ketut, coordination with the Attorney General’s Office is very important to map out gaps that need to be fixed by the BGN in the future. “Whatever is found by the investigators, we will use for improvements,” said Ketut. Previously, the BGN introduced five newly appointed officials, one of whom was Ketut Sumedana as Deputy for Monitoring and Supervision. BGN Vice Head Agustina Arumsari stated that Ketut’s experience in law enforcement supervision as a former prosecutor was very much needed. She added that he would be asked to identify potential irregularities and ensure regulatory compliance, including monitoring and evaluating the entire MBG programme and its standard operating procedures.
