BGN Confirms Electric Motorcycles Will Not Be Given to SPPG Heads

The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has confirmed that the electric motorcycles, whose procurement is currently under legal investigation, will not be distributed to the heads of the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG).

BGN Deputy Head Agustina Arumsari stated that the agency will still utilise the motorcycles, but not for the operational needs of SPPG heads as originally planned. “Because actually, they were originally intended for the SPPG heads, which in our opinion, they don’t really need,” she said at the BGN building in Central Jakarta on Tuesday.

She explained that the agency is currently taking stock of the electric motorcycles. Many of the units procured during the era of former BGN head Dadan Hindayana are trail bikes, meaning their use must be adapted to field conditions. “This means, for instance, they might not be suitable for mothers delivering food containers to the 3B groups, if they are trail bikes. So, these are things that need to be considered,” she added.

Arumsari acknowledged that some of the electric motorcycles are of the underbone type, but noted that not all regions in Indonesia have public electric vehicle charging stations (SPKLU), so their deployment must also be adjusted to local conditions. She stated that the agency is continuing to collect data on the potential uses of the electric motorcycles but confirmed they will be put to use. “The point is, we will utilise them, but perhaps not all of them for BGN. Because they have already been paid for with state money,” she said.
