BGN Confirms Electric Motorcycles from Dadan Era Procurement Will Be Utilised
The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has confirmed that electric motorcycles procured in 2025 will be utilised. The agency revealed that several ministries have submitted proposals for their use. “It is still under investigation, but yes, they will be utilised. Several parties have proposed their use, including the Ministry of Social Affairs, the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning, the Ministry of Agriculture, and the Ministry of Villages. They are welcome to submit proposals,” said BGN Deputy Head Agustina Arumsari during a press conference at the BGN office in Jakarta on Tuesday (21/7/2026).
Agustina stated that the BGN will assess the specific needs for the electric motorcycles. She acknowledged that the vehicles were initially intended for the operations of SPPG heads but were ultimately deemed unnecessary. “Their function is more about internal supervision; they do not need motorcycles for field work. Moreover, we realised that the motorcycles procured were trail bikes, which are not suitable for women,” she said.
She noted that the model of the electric motorcycles is a key consideration for their use, as the procurement included both trail bikes and mopeds. “For example, if they are given to women delivering meals for the Free Nutritious Meal programme, we have to consider the model. We also cannot just distribute them to regions without SPKLU charging stations, as these are electric motorcycles. We will review the data and determine which regions are suitable,” she explained.
Agustina stressed that the motorcycles, procured during the era of former BGN head Dadan Hindayana, must be used because they were paid for with state money. However, not all of them will be used by the BGN itself. “The main point is they will be utilised, though perhaps not all by BGN, because they were paid for with state funds. So, I must clarify that if there were previous statements suggesting they were proceeds of corruption, that is incorrect. They were paid for with state money,” she asserted.
She further explained that the authorities will hold the corruption suspects, including Dadan Hindayana, accountable for the mark-up in the procurement. “The mark-up value will be the responsibility of the suspects, and all state losses must be returned to the state treasury. The original price is currently being calculated by investigators, and the mark-up amount will be returned to the state through court mechanisms,” she added.
