BGN Clarifies MBG Fund Allocation, Rp500 Million Distributed Every 12 Days
The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has clarified information circulating regarding the budget allocation in the Free Nutritious Meals Programme (MBG). Khairul Hidayati, Head of the BGN Legal and Public Relations Bureau, stated there was an error in previous reporting concerning the timing of fund disbursement.
Following internal verification, BGN has confirmed that budget allocation of approximately Rp500 million is provided every twelve days to each Nutrition Service Unit (SPPG), not daily as had been previously reported.
“In the interests of transparency and accuracy of public information, we are clarifying that each SPPG receives an allocation of approximately Rp500 million per twelve days,” Khairul said in Jakarta on Friday, 27 February.
He explained that the fund disbursement mechanism is carried out directly to SPPG without going through regional government. This scheme is considered to support equitable programme benefits whilst encouraging local economic circulation.
According to BGN, the use of local food products in implementing MBG also creates market certainty for agricultural products. As a result, the production sector receives positive momentum, including as reflected in the increase in the Farmer’s Exchange Rate (NTP), which averages 125.
BGN has stressed that this clarification is being provided to ensure the public receives accurate information regarding programme implementation.
“We are committed to always providing accurate and accountable information to the public,” Khairul said.
