BGN Clarifies Electric Motorcycles Purchased Under Dadan's Era Were Bought with State Funds, Not Proceeds of Corruption

Jakarta, VIVA – Deputy Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Agustina Arumsari has spoken out regarding the 21,801 electric motorbikes purchased for the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme.

She stressed that the motorbikes were not proceeds of corruption, but were purchased with state funds.

“So I apologise if some previously claimed these were the proceeds of corruption. They were paid for with state money, not proceeds of corruption,” Arum said at the BGN office in Central Jakarta, quoted on Wednesday, 22 July 2026.

Regarding alleged price mark-ups in the motorbike procurement, she said the suspects would be held accountable through the ongoing legal process.

“The mark-up will later be accounted for by the suspects — all forms of state losses will be repaid to the state treasury,” Arum said.

“But the actual price is what investigators are currently calculating. Whatever the mark-up was, it will be returned to the state through the court mechanism. So they were not proceeds of corruption,” she continued.

The 21,801 electric motorbikes were purchased during the era when Dadan Hindayana still served as Head of BGN. Dadan has now been named a suspect in the alleged corruption case at BGN.

In a working meeting with Commission IX of the House of Representatives on Friday, 17 July 2026, Arum said the motorbikes had not yet been designated as BGN assets. Arum said a down payment for the electric motorbike procurement was made, amounting to Rp243.9 billion, with the final instalment paid in 2026.

“There may be questions about why there was such a large advance payment in 2025. That was the down payment for the electric motorbikes that later became a public issue,” Sari said.

“So the down payment was made in 2025, with the final payment in 2026, amounting to Rp243.9 billion,” she added.
