Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Sudaryono has assured that the transparency of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme will be opened as widely as possible to the public. He promised that starting next week, parents will be able to directly monitor the menu and nutritional content of their children’s food through a digital system.

"We expect that next week it will be accessible to all parents. So parents can access the system to see where their child goes to school, what the MBG menu is at that school, which kitchen it is cooked in, and who the head of the SPPG is," Sudaryono said during a press conference at the BGN Office in Central Jakarta, Monday (27/7/2026).

He explained that the system will not only list the type of food but also information regarding the nutrients contained within it. This data will later be accessible to various parties, from teachers and head teachers to relevant agencies in local governments.

"Stakeholders can obtain information including the nutritional content of the menu. Parents, teachers, head teachers, regional heads, and agencies can access this information," he stated.

Sudaryono said the BGN is currently improving data on its official website service. He requested a few days to ensure that data on the distribution of kitchens at the sub-district and district levels can be presented in real-time to the public.

"We will improve the information display on our website service so the public can also know the number of kitchens, how many kitchens are in each sub-district, how many kitchens are in each district, and the number of beneficiaries. We will fix this," Sudaryono said.

"Give me a few days to make these improvements, so that you may not need to ask manually, but can get the information provided by the system," he continued.

On that occasion, Sudaryono outlined three main issues that are the focus of reform in his early tenure: corruption, governance, and transparency. He noted that communication and supervision systems that are still manual are critical to fix, as they are prone to triggering public distrust and are difficult for stakeholders to monitor.

"What we are trying to solve is how, from the perspective of openness, transparency, communication, and the involvement of many parties, other agencies, other ministries, other institutions, local government involvement, and public participation in supervising the menu, distribution, kitchens, cleanliness, and so on, we are trying to fix these three things," Sudaryono said.

"In addition, we have built a transparency mechanism, a method, and we will announce it at a later moment, on how the public can participate in supervising this MBG menu, supervising the food being distributed," he concluded.
