BGN Chief Meets Attorney General to Discuss Legal Assistance and Oversight for Free Nutritious Meal Programme
The new leadership of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) visited the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) to strengthen coordination and build cooperation in the civil and state administrative fields. Deputy for Monitoring and Supervision at BGN, Ketut Sumedana, explained that the visit was part of a courtesy call by BGN officials following a change of leadership within the institution. “The essence is that the BGN leadership’s arrival here with their staff, from the Head, the Deputy, to several Deputies, was in the context of a courtesy call. Because they are new officials, naturally there are many things that need to be communicated going forward in terms of cooperation in the civil and state administrative fields,” Ketut stated at the Attorney General’s Office in South Jakarta on Tuesday, 11 August 2026.
During the meeting, BGN officials also discussed plans for legal assistance from the Attorney General’s Office. This assistance includes legal audits and supervision of BGN programme implementation in the field, involving the ranks of district and high prosecutors’ offices. “He requested that in the future there will be assistance. Legal assistance, legal audits, including field supervision involving colleagues at the District Prosecutor’s Office and High Prosecutor’s Office,” Ketut said.
Ketut stated that the BGN is currently undertaking reforms and evaluations of its internal governance. This step is being taken to ensure that BGN’s services to the public can run better and provide greater benefits. “We are currently carrying out reforms and evaluations of everything. We will see how it goes in the future, hopefully it will be better. The service to the public will be more beneficial. That is the key,” Ketut remarked.
Furthermore, Ketut said the reforms will also target the governance and procurement systems within the BGN. The new BGN leadership, he added, is committed to building a better system while improving service quality. “Of course, all governance will be built properly. The commitment of this new leadership is how to build good governance and good service,” he explained.
Regarding the investigation into alleged corruption in the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme currently being conducted by the Attorney General’s Office, Ketut confirmed that the BGN is open to the examinations being carried out by investigators. He stressed that the BGN leadership will not obstruct the legal process against parties being investigated in the case.
