BGN Chief Denies Viral Claim of MBG Fund Distribution to President: Hoax
The Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Nanik S. Deyang, has refuted a viral narrative that falsely quoted her regarding the distribution of funds from the free nutritious meal (MBG) programme to the president. She declared the information to be false, or a hoax. “I emphasise that the circulating narrative is untrue. I have never made a statement as stated in the message spreading on social media and messaging applications,” Nanik told reporters on Saturday (13/6/2026).
Nanik stated that she had never issued such a statement. She described the information as disinformation that has the potential to mislead the public and create unrest in the public sphere. According to Nanik, irresponsible parties frequently misuse the names of public officials to construct provocative narratives. She therefore urged the public to be careful when receiving or disseminating unverified information.
“The public must ensure the truth of information through official sources. Do not easily believe or spread information whose origin is unclear, as it can cause misunderstandings within society,” Nanik said. She added that official statements from the agency are only conveyed through official communication channels, whether via press statements, the official website, or verified social media accounts. Nanik called on all parties to work together to safeguard the digital space by prioritising facts.
“We invite the public to be wiser in digital media and to prioritise information verification. BGN will remain focused on carrying out its duties and service programmes for the community in accordance with the mandate given by the government,” Nanik concluded.
