BGN Chief Confirms 2027 Free Nutritious Meals Budget to Reach Rp240 Trillion
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Sudaryono met with Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa at the Ministry of Finance office on Friday (28/8/2026). The two discussed the budget for the government’s flagship programme, Free Nutritious Meals (MBG).
The meeting, which lasted approximately one and a half hours from 10.00 WIB at the Juanda Building in Jakarta, covered the operational distribution of Free Nutritious Meals, alignment of financial systems, budgeting, and the operations of MBG kitchens.
Sudaryono disclosed that discussions covered the implementation of MBG, with 27,485 MBG kitchens or Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG) currently in operation. Mas Dar, as the BGN Head is known, also revealed that 463 kitchens have had their operations halted.
In addition, Mas Dar spoke with Purbaya regarding connectivity between the Ministry of Finance’s systems and BGN, in order to minimise manual recording systems related to MBG operational reports.
“Then connect the axis system at the Ministry of Finance with SIPGN at our end. So the essence is that what was previously manual should no longer be manual, but rather how the team or people working in the field, in the kitchens, can work with the system and be facilitated in their reporting,” said Sudaryono to reporters at the Juanda Building in Jakarta on Thursday (28/8/2026).
Furthermore, the discussion turned to plans for implementing MBG next year, particularly regarding the budget. Sudaryono confirmed that the MBG budget for 2027 amounts to Rp240 trillion.
“Yes, of course you all already know, the budget is around Rp240 trillion,” said Sudaryono.
He also assured that the MBG budget requirements for 2026 remain sufficient and that no additional budget allocation is needed.
“God willing, there is no need for additional budget. The current 2026 budget can, God willing, be maximised without any additional allocation,” he stressed.
Next, the discussion covered the activation of kitchens in underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost regions, known as 3T, which are expected to open in September or the following month.
Sudaryono said that 2,700 kitchens are currently ready to operate in stages to serve the distribution of MBG in 3T regions.
“There are 2,700 that are ready, and we will open them in stages, including opening kitchens in areas where many people are in need,” he said.
