BGN Cancels Rp535 Billion LED Procurement, Sudaryono: This is Erroneous!
The Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Sudaryono, has cancelled the plan to procure LED devices worth Rp535 billion after issues regarding the budget ceiling were discovered.
He explained that social media posts had appeared to depict him and two Deputy Heads of the BGN conducting the Rp535 billion LED procurement. “It was as if I, as the Head of BGN, and my Deputies were buying LEDs worth Rp535 billion, which could actually buy an aircraft,” Sudaryono stated during a meeting with Commission IX of the House of Representatives (DPR) on Friday, 4 September 2026.
Sudaryono believes that the information was obtained after users viewed Inaproc. He noted that the process came under scrutiny after being listed on the Inaproc website.
According to Sudaryono, the procurement process had not been visible when his agency had not yet utilised the system prior to 1 April. However, after they began using it on 1 July, decisions regarding the LED procurement emerged.
He emphasised that the BGN subsequently decided to cancel the procurement. Sudaryono cited two primary reasons for the cancellation: first, he deemed the justification for the procurement to be inappropriate; second, there was no available budget ceiling for the LED procurement.
“Why? First, the reasoning is quite fabricated, and second, the budget ceiling does not exist, so if it were carried out, it would certainly be an error,” he asserted.
He argued that procurement should not be undertaken if the budget ceiling is unavailable, noting that the existence of a budget ceiling is a vital requirement in government procurement processes.
“If it were carried out, it would be an error; if it is not carried out, it is also seen as an error because it is claimed to exist when it does not,” he said.
Sudaryono confirmed that the cancellation process has been completed, emphasising that the cancellation must follow established mechanisms.
During the session, Sudaryono also reaffirmed that the BGN leadership did not authorise the Rp535 billion LED procurement, citing the two main issues: the procurement process itself and the lack of an allocated budget ceiling.
“This is important, and our leadership has addressed the issue regarding this LED procurement in this forum. We did not permit the procurement because, firstly, the process was flawed and secondly, there was no budget ceiling,” concluded Sudaryono.
