BGN: Body Found in Kendal Was Not Inside an MBG Kitchen
Indonesia’s National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has stressed that the building linked to the discovery of a body in Kendal Regency, Central Java, was not a Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG) building or an MBG kitchen.
The clarification follows the circulation of reports about a body found in a building said to be connected with SPPG operations in Kendal.
BGN spokesperson Tysa Novenny said the agency had conducted an in-depth investigation and coordinated with the local regional coordinator to verify the information circulating.
“Based on our investigation and coordination, the building is not an SPPG building and does not have an official SPPG ID. No activities related to the MBG Programme have ever taken place at the site,” Tysa said in a statement on Saturday (10 October 2026).
She explained that the building was also not among those affected by the moratorium on the construction or operation of SPPGs. No BGN partner has claimed ownership of the building either.
“Accordingly, we can confirm that the building has no connection with the National Nutrition Agency or the Free Nutritious Meals Programme,” Tysa said.
BGN said it issued the clarification as part of its institutional responsibility to provide the public with accurate information. It urged people to rely on official statements and not to hastily link an incident to a government programme before the facts and any connection have been verified.
BGN also expressed its condolences over the discovery of the body, and hoped that the bereaved family would be given strength and fortitude in facing the tragedy.
“The entire National Nutrition Agency extends its deepest condolences over this incident. May the family left behind be given strength, fortitude and acceptance,” Tysa said.
BGN said it remained committed to providing information openly, accurately and responsibly in order to maintain public trust in the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meals Programme.
