BGN Asks SPPG Partners for Time to Restructure Free Nutritious Meal Programme

The Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Trenggono, has requested that partners of the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG) give the agency time to restructure the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme. Trenggono explained that the agency needs time to reorganise and re-evaluate the programme, which is currently under a moratorium.

He initially stated that the BGN fully understands the various complaints submitted by SPPG partners following the programme’s suspension. However, he stressed that the temporary halt is not permanent. “Yesterday, partners came here to express their concerns and so on. There were also questions from Commission IX. To be clear, we are answering that this moratorium is not forever, it is only temporary,” Trenggono said after a meeting at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, on Friday.

He appealed to the partners to allow the agency the necessary time to focus on reorganising the roughly 27,000 SPPG units that have been established across various regions. “Please give us time to reorganise. We will recheck and restructure these 27,000-plus units. This also includes SPPGs in the 3T regions (Frontier, Outermost, and Disadvantaged areas), we will give time for all of them. Please give us the time to set everything in order,” he explained.

Furthermore, Trenggono emphasised that the BGN is not refusing to open lines of communication with the SPPG partners. He promised to schedule a specific time for a proper dialogue soon. “So once again, I hope the partners understand, it is not that we do not want to communicate, not at all. We will also provide the opportunity, but we will find the right time so we can have a good dialogue,” he concluded.
