The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has clarified that the circulating narrative alleging the distribution of profits from the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Programme to President Prabowo Subianto is untrue or a hoax. The BGN confirmed that the statement claiming former BGN Head Dadan Hindayana accused Nanik of distributing MBG profits to Prabowo, as circulated, was never delivered by the BGN Head or any official representative of the institution. The information is considered a form of disinformation that has the potential to mislead the public and cause unrest in the public sphere. “I assert that the circulating narrative is not true. I have never made the statement as contained in the message circulating on social media or chat applications,” said BGN Head Nanik S Deyang in an official statement in Jakarta on Sunday. According to her, irresponsible parties often misuse the names of public officials to build provocative narratives and provoke public reaction, so the public is urged to be more careful in receiving and disseminating unverified information. “The public needs to verify the truth of information through official sources. Do not easily believe or spread information whose origins are unclear, as it can cause misunderstandings within the community,” said Nanik. The BGN emphasised that all official statements from the institution are only conveyed through official communication channels, whether through press statements, the official website, or verified social media accounts. Information circulating outside these official channels cannot be used as a valid reference. Nanik also invited all parties to jointly maintain a healthy digital space by prioritising facts and not being influenced by content that is manipulative, provocative, or contains elements of slander. “We invite the public to be wiser in digital media and to prioritise information verification. BGN will remain focused on carrying out its duties and service programmes to the community in accordance with the mandate given by the government,” said Nanik.
