BGN affirms valid SPPG verification process is free of charge
The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has confirmed that the application and verification process for legitimate Satuan Pelayanan Pemenuhan Gizi (SPPG) units is free of charge, amid numerous scams involving Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) kitchen points. ‘The entire application and verification process for valid SPPG units has never been charged any fees by BGN,’ said BGN Deputy Head Sony Sonjaya in an official statement on Friday. Sony affirmed his commitment to maintaining the integrity of the MBG program by fully supporting law enforcement efforts against alleged fraud and embezzlement cases falsely claiming to build SPPG units, including one in East Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). The case originated from public reports of scams promising the construction and operation of SPPG kitchens. In practice, perpetrators allegedly offered SPPG location points, kitchen facility construction, and operational readiness in exchange for payments from victims. ‘The modus operandi involves promising SPPG location points, building construction, and operational readiness,’ Sony said. ‘BGN has never appointed intermediaries, brokers, or any party to guarantee SPPG location points in exchange for payment. The entire process is conducted transparently in accordance with applicable regulations,’ he added. Sony revealed that several victims approached BGN after promised projects failed to materialise and funds were not returned. Following verification, BGN advised victims to pursue legal action through law enforcement authorities. BGN also reminded the public that all official information regarding SPPG construction, including technical requirements, building standards, kitchen capacity, and facility layout, is publicly accessible via official government channels. BGN reiterated that SPPG applications and verification processes are free of charge. The agency has never appointed brokers, intermediaries, or any party to guarantee SPPG approval. ‘All official information is communicated exclusively through BGN’s official channels. The public should immediately report any suspected MBG or BGN-related fraud to law enforcement authorities,’ Sony said.
