BGN Adjusts MBG Distribution to Five Days for Budget Efficiency
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has adjusted the distribution schedule of the Free Nutritious Meal Programme (MBG) from six to five days a week to support government budget efficiency measures. Sony Sonjaya, Deputy Head of BGN’s Operational Nutrition Fulfillment Department, stated the change aligns with students’ school attendance days without reducing service quality or nutritional provision for beneficiaries. ‘We support the budget efficiency measures. One way BGN is contributing is by adjusting the MBG distribution schedule from six to five days a week,’ Sony said on Monday, 26 May 2026. The MBG programme will only be provided when students are at school and participating in classes. ‘The concept is that MBG is provided only when students are at school. Therefore, if they are on holiday or engaged in off-school activities, no MBG will be given,’ he explained. Sony emphasised that BGN’s efficiency measures do not reduce the value of assistance or the quality of nutritional services for MBG beneficiaries. ‘There is no reduction in value. The adjustment is to the distribution schedule to make it more effective and efficient,’ he added.
