BGN acts swiftly to handle shattered glass panel incident at headquarters

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has moved swiftly to handle an incident in which a single outer glass panel of the BGN office building in Kebon Sirih, Central Jakarta, shattered on Thursday afternoon.

The incident occurred at around 11.25am Western Indonesia Time in the exterior area of the second floor of the BGN office building. One outer glass panel of the building came loose from its mounting after a sound was heard from the bracket support, then fell onto the asphalt area below the building and shattered into fragments of glass.

Deputy Head of BGN Agustina Arumsari, speaking in Jakarta on Thursday, confirmed the incident and said the agency immediately carried out initial handling procedures to ensure the safety of all employees within the office premises.

“As soon as the incident occurred, we immediately carried out initial handling procedures to ensure the safety of employees at the location, from visual documentation, sterilising the area, to cleaning up emergency response materials,” said Arum.

“We are also conducting a thorough evaluation of building elements with similar characteristics as a mitigation step. BGN also prioritises safety aspects through regular inspections and any necessary follow-up measures to ensure the incident does not happen again,” she added.

BGN is currently carrying out further inspections to determine the cause of the incident, including evaluating the condition of the glass panel and its supporting structure. In recent years, similar incidents have occurred several times, allegedly triggered by expansion caused by temperature differences between the hot weather outside the building and the cool temperatures indoors.

BGN remains committed to prioritising the safety of all employees within the office premises through rapid response, thorough inspections, and preventive measures to ensure similar incidents do not recur.
