BGN acts swiftly to handle shattered glass panel incident at headquarters
The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) moved quickly to handle an incident in which an exterior glass panel shattered at the BGN Office Building in Kebon Sirih, Central Jakarta, on Thursday afternoon. The incident occurred around 11.25 a.m. Western Indonesia Time in the exterior area of the building’s second floor. One exterior glass panel became dislodged from its mounting after a sound was heard from the bracket support, subsequently falling onto the asphalt area below the building and shattering into fragments. BGN Deputy Head Agustina Arumsari in Jakarta on Thursday confirmed the incident and stated that the BGN immediately carried out initial handling procedures to ensure the safety of all employees within the office environment. ‘As soon as the incident occurred, we immediately carried out initial handling procedures to ensure the safety of employees at the location, starting from visual documentation, area sterilisation, to emergency response cleaning of materials,’ Arum said. ‘We are also conducting a thorough evaluation of building elements with similar characteristics as a mitigation measure. The BGN also prioritises safety aspects through periodic inspections and necessary follow-up actions so that such an incident does not happen again,’ she stated. Currently, the BGN is also conducting further inspections to ascertain the cause of the incident, including evaluating the condition of the glass panels and their supporting structures. In recent years, similar incidents have occurred several times, suspected to be triggered by expansion due to temperature differences between the hot weather outside the building and the cold temperature inside. The BGN is committed to continuing to prioritise the safety of all employees within the office environment through swift handling, thorough inspections, and preventive measures to ensure similar incidents do not recur.
