JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) revealed that 8,182 Nutrition Service Units (SPPG) have been temporarily suspended since the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme began on 6 January 2025.

Nanik S. Deyang, Deputy Head of BGN’s Public Communication and Investigation Division, stated that suspension decisions were made based on public and regional government inputs, surprise inspection (sidak) results, and monitoring of incidents reported by programme beneficiaries.

‘From the programme’s start on 6 January 2025 to 29 May 2026, of the total 27,208 operational SPPGs across Indonesia, 8,182 have been suspended at some point,’ Nanik said in a written statement on Sunday (31 May 2026).

Meanwhile, 2,213 SPPGs remain suspended for not meeting technical guidelines regarding management and facility standards.

In Region I, covering Sumatra, 5,968 SPPGs are operational. Of these, 758 have been suspended at some point, with 148 still under suspension. Additionally, 610 previously suspended units have resumed operations.

In Region II, covering Java, 16,594 SPPGs are operational. Of these, 3,466 have been suspended, with 1,666 still suspended. Nanik added that 1,800 previously suspended units in the region have resumed operations.

In Region III, covering Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Nusa Tenggara, Maluku, and Papua, 4,646 SPPGs are operational. Of these, 3,959 have been suspended, with 399 still under suspension.
